The BAME Students’ Network presents the first edition of ‘BAMEFest’. Join us for a series of events and community engagement activities on the 5th and 6th of March. We have something to offer to everyone, whether you enjoy playing sports, want to listen to a panel discussion, just want to socialise with new people, or want to engage in a semi-formal mixer.
Find the schedule below and click on the title or image to get to the Facebook event!
Join us for a fun and energetic Zumba workout, featuring your favourite music from all around the world! It's going to be a whole lot of dancing, enjoying, and meeting new people! You'll get to hear some great tracks, and show off some amazing moves, so don't forget to come along!
Come along to a relaxed day-time social, to unwind with some Chai and destressing activities. Bring your friends and meet other BAME students, over a warm, soothing and aromatic cup of Chai.
Join our President and Education Officer in conversation with Academics from across schools, to discuss the experiences and challenges of navigating race and ethnicity within academia. Come to listen, come to ask questions, come to learn. This conversation is about creating a safe space, sharing personal experiences, as well as being honest even when it feels uncomfortable to do so. Speaker list TBA soon!
Come and join us for a relaxed discussion and socialising evening downstairs at Aikmans and meet fellow queer POC! This event is about creating a safe space and exchanging experiences that are specific to people at the intersections of communities of queerness and communities of colour.
Kick off your Sunday with our BAMEFest dodgeball tournament! Sign up with your friends, or as an individual player and meet your team on the day. Then fight your way to the top of the table and leave victorious with a £10 gift voucher.

Join the BAME Students' Network and the Union Debating Society in conversation with Mr Majid Haq, who has over 200 caps and is Scotland’s all-time highest wicket taker! The online discussion will primarily revolve around institutional racism in sports. We will also have a brief Q&A at the very end, wherein we encourage all of you to ask Majid questions regarding cricket! Click here to join the Zoom call.
